Get on your bike or put on your walking shoes and follow the “Voie Verte” Trans-Ardennes, a former railway line that has been transformed into a beautiful green path. Near Messincourt you will cycle or walk along forests, fields and rivers, far away from traffic. Perfect for families, peace seekers and nature lovers who want to enjoy the unspoilt Ardennes at their own pace.
Just half an hour from Messincourt lies the imposing castle of Sedan, the largest medieval fortress in Europe. Wander through ancient corridors, come face to face with knights and learn all about the turbulent history of this strategic location. Ideal for an exciting afternoon with the whole family.
Be surprised by the lively atmosphere of Charleville-Mézières, the birthplace of the famous poet Arthur Rimbaud. Visit the Rimbaud Museum, stroll through the beautiful “Place Ducale” and enjoy a drink on a pleasant terrace. A charming city near Messincourt that perfectly combines culture and relaxation.
Enjoy a relaxing day at the Lac de Sedan. This recreational lake just outside the city is perfect for families: safe swimming, playgrounds, picnic areas and plenty of space to walk or kayak. Ideal for a refreshing dip or an active break in the green!
LA FENDERIE
“La Fenderie” was founded in 1814 by François Devillez-Bodson. Initially, the building consisted of one large hall, intended for the installation of a small crushing mill and three heating ovens. Later, a sawmill was added on the left and a porter’s lodge on the right.
In recent decades, the sawmill has been used as a film and party hall. The ponds were known far and wide to anglers, which is why La Fenderie is better known in the area as “Les Etangs De La Scierie”.
During the renovation, the authentic elements are preserved as much as possible and, if possible, restored to their former glory.
OASIS OF PEACE
On our extensive domain of approximately 10 hectares you hear nothing but the gently flowing stream, the croaking of frogs and the rustling of the trees.
Walk along the three large ponds full of tame fish, take a seat on one of the many picnic benches and enjoy the silence around you. Start your day with breakfast in the morning sun, end with a glass of wine in the evening sun. Play a game of “petanque” on the 2 courts, or do nothing at all and de-stress.
Our comfortable holiday home is fully equipped and ideal for a family holiday. Enjoy a delicious meal together at the large dining table or play a board game. In the cozy sitting area around the television you can completely relax after a day outside.
Everything is there to make you feel at home, in the middle of nature. Nothing is required here!

Wat hebben we genoten van ons kerstverblijf in La Fenderie!
Complimenten voor het schone, mooi afgewerkte, versierde huis… Zelfs de kerstboom stond opgetuigd:)
De kinderen hebben heerlijk buiten gespeeld en zich vermaakt met de spellen en puzzels in de speelkamer.
Deze woning komt op ons lijstje ” voor herhaling vatbaar” (mijn opa schreef dan altijd in zijn vakantieboekje “VHV”)
We genoten enorm van ons weekend in het knusse, gezellige vakantiehuis.
Het grote domein vol natuur straalt rust uit …… Wandelen en de streek ontdekken…… een top weekend.
De gastvrouw en gastheer zijn super vriendelijk ……..Dit vakantiehuis is een echte aanrader.
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans ce charmant gîte situé à Messincourt. L’endroit est calme, idéal pour se reposer en pleine nature tout en restant proche des commodités et des nombreuses activités à faire autour. Le gîte est bien équipé, propre et décoré avec goût, ce qui rend le lieu très chaleureux et accueillant…
Je reviendrai avec plaisir !
